KATURASELE VILLAGE

Katurasele village is a Seventh-day Adventist village in South Lauru(Choiseul).  The village has an organised local church and other nearby company churchs.

The nearest Hospital is Sasamunga Hospital which is 45 minutes away by 30HP outboard motor and the nearest airstrip is at Taro island which is about 1 hour 50 minutes away by outboard motor.

Katurasele village is one of the oldest Adventist villages in South Choiseul.  Perhaps, it may even be the largest Adventist village in South Choiseul.

For years the Katurasele local church tried to build a new building. But the village community lacked adequate financial resources. As a result, Lauru Supporting Ministry asked the Katurasele local church if the local church wanted Lauru Suppoerting Ministry to look for extra help. Consequently, Katurasele church agreed and wrote an authorisation letter to request Lauru Supporting Ministry to look for extra help.

It was Lauru Supporting Ministry that requested and organised the Australian volunteers to donate monies in 2012. Lauru Supporting Ministry also donated few thousands of Australian dollars towards the project. Lauru Supporting Ministry then requested the Katurasele community in Honiara to involve in entertaining the Australian volunteers that went to Katurasele village to build the new church.  Glory to GOD.

Later, Lauru Supporting Ministry stopped managing the projec after the Australian volunteers returned to Australia. Eventhough the church building project was not complete. Lauru Supporting Ministry stopped in managing the project due to conflicts that emerged in the project. It was the best decision to allow other stakeholders to continue the smaller remaining activities in the project.

The local church at Katurasele dedicated the new church building on 04 January 2023.  All Praises and Glories to God in heaven.
