Solomon Islands Mission, through Pr W. Liligeto, approached Lauru Supporting Ministry for help when the original plan for getting money for the hiring of the boat Mauri did not work. We were approached on September 30, 2009. This was nine days before the starting date for the Mini-Youth Congress 2009 at Ghogobe. We decided to activate the appeal by providing an opportunity for other people from Choiseul Province to help. The appeal was activated on Sunday, 04 October 2009 through the emails and the information on this website. We activated the appeal five days before the boat Mauri sails for Ghoghobe for the Congress on Monday, 12 October 2009. As a result more than 100 hits of unique visitors visited the website to see the appeal on Monday 05 October 2009, alone. We had unique visitors from UK, USA, Asia, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Australia and New Zealand visited this website to see the appeal.
We give thanks and glory to GOD for working through individuals who responded to the appeal. God helped us to raise the money within 3 days of the appeal. Three donors from Australia and a student donor from New Zealand helped us to get the SBD$5,000.00 required to hire the boat Mauri. We thank the donors so much for the generous donations. We acknowledge the donors to the appropriate authority at the Solomon Islands Mission of Seventh-Day Adventist in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The money is now in the Choiseul Regional District bank account.
The resource team & equipment for the congress will depart from Honiara on Friday, 09 October 2009 at 5.00pm.
